CS Club Server

This is to be used for discussions about our club's new server! Whether AMD or Intel, Western Digital or Seagate, Windows or Linux are all important decisions to make!

I was thinking:
- Lots of RAM (8GB or more)
- Xen-based virtualization
- gives us more flexibility in the use of our server, whether use as a webserver, backup server, or even other uses to be decided later.
- at least two HDD in RAID1 for data security
- Intel-based processor/mobo
- Nehalem based cpus offer great performance and scalability.

First Meeting of the Semester

Our first meeting this semester will be Thursday Feb 4th at 4pm in Watkins 209.

We will be figuring out what we want for our new server.

We will also have some pizza!

CS Club Server Survey

The purpose of this survey is to find out what features/services computer science students would like the server to offer them. Please feel free to add suggestions for free, shareware, or commercial software and hardware components which may provide interesting or useful learning experiences.
